The Grand Jury does not determine guilt or innocence, but whether there is probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed and that a specific person or persons committed it. This is a group of people selected by the judge and attorneys who determine any question or issue of fact in a civil or criminal trial according to law and the evidence introduced at the trial.Ī Grand Jury is a group of not more than 23 people that serve for approximately 12-18 months. Interest begins to accrue on the total due at the rate of 1% per month. They are then known as a certificate of delinquency and represent a lien against the property in question. At the close of business on April 15th, the tax bills are transferred from the sheriff’s office to the county clerk’s office.
